CPD changes 911 in-person response policy

In the wake of the most deadly January in the city, the Chicago Police Department has changed its 911 response policy in order to focus officer attention on more violent crime.

With 42 people murdered in the last month, the CPD has classified less violent crimes in which the offender is no longer present (such as theft) as no longer requiring a dispatch of an officer in an attempt to free up officers for more violent offenses.
