Softball cancels rest of season

This is the last known picture of the 2014 softball season.

After weeks of indoor practices and multiple game cancellations, Loyola University Chicago announced that it will be canceling the rest of the spring 2014 softball season as of March 30.

“The weather has been brutal this winter,” Head Coach Missy Beseres said. “Now with Polar Vortex IV coming around we just don’t think it is best for our girls to continue putting in the effort for more and more game cancellations.”

Senior pitcher Brenda Bond disagrees with Beseres saying, “Maybe if we got those nice winter jackets like the soccer teams, we could play in this cold.”

Dr. M. Grace Calhoun suggested that perhaps it would be beneficial for the team to join her in the switch to University of Pennsylvania, saying, “These girls have worked so hard and showed determination. I would think it would be best for them and the University of Pennsylvania if they joined me in the move from the Missouri Valley Conference to the Ivy League.”

Calhoun went on to cite the high GPA of softball athletes as a reason why they would fit into the Ivy League atmosphere.
