Criminal Sexual Abuse Reported Near Simpson Hall

The Chicago Jewish Day School was evacuated for about two hours March 7.

A Loyola student reported an incident of criminal sexual abuse early this morning.

The student was walking southbound on North Winthrop Avenue near Simpson Hall at about 1 a.m. when a man on a bicycle approached the student from behind and groped the student, according to an email sent to the Loyola community by Campus Safety Deputy Chief Joe Bogdalek.

The student broke free, returned to the residence hall and contacted Campus Safety, while the offender fled north toward Sheridan Road, according to the email.

Campus Safety described the offender as:

  • Male with medium-length black hair and a black beard
  • 20-25 years old
  • Approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall
  • 160 pounds
  • Wearing a black headband, T-shirt, cargo shorts and a black and gray backpack
  • Riding a light gray bicycle
