If you’re looking for Loyola staff member and PHOENIX adviser Ralph Braseth, you might not find him in his office. Instead, look near the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Pearson Street. Braseth has spent every afternoon since Jan. 29 standing on the busy street corner holding a homemade cardboard sign that reads, “Muslims welcome. This land is your land.”

Grace Runkel is the former editor-in-chief of The PHOENIX. She’s from Floyds Knobs, Indiana, a small town just north of Louisville, Kentucky.
