Strong-Armed Robbery Reported Near Lake Shore Campus

A Loyola student was the victim of a strong-armed robbery early April 22 about one block from the Lake Shore Campus.

A man walked up to the 20-year-old male student between 2:10 and 2:30 a.m. on Saturday in the 1200 block of West Arthur Avenue, according to CPD News Affairs Officer Kevin Quaid.

The man told the student he had a weapon, but the weapon was never seen, Quaid said.

He led the student to the Chase Bank at 6415 N. Sheridan Rd., where the student withdrew money from the ATM. Following the transaction, the offender immediately fled, Quaid said.

The amount of money stolen is currently unknown.

The man is described as:

  • 30 to 35 years old
  • Wearing a green hat
  • Wearing a Chicago Blackhawks jersey

Loyola Campus Safety is working closely with the Chicago Police Department on the investigation, according to a campus-wide email from Loyola’s Deputy Chief of Campus Safety Ed Mirabelli.

The investigation is ongoing, Quaid said.

Mirabelli urged anybody with information on the incident to call Loyola Campus Safety at (773) 508-6039 or CPD at (312) 744-8263.
