What went down: No. 3 seed Illinois State University (17-14, 10-8) took on No. 6 seed Indiana State University (13-18, 8-10) in the quarterfinals of Arch Madness March 2. The Redbirds defeated the Sycamores 77-70.
How it happened: The Sycamores shot just 31.3 percent (10-for-32) from the field in the first half and Illinois State took a 34-31 lead into the break. The Redbirds shot 50 percent (14-for-28) in the second half and redshirt junior forward Milik Yarbrough scored 17 of his 24 points in the second half.
Analysis: Three Redbirds — Yarbrough, junior forward Phil Fayne and junior guard Keyshawn Evans — scored in double figures. Fayne scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Evans scored 17 points.
Indiana State junior guard Jordan Barnes led all scorers with 25 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Redshirt senior Qiydar Davis added 15 for the Sycamores. Senior guard Brenton Scott — who was named third team All-MVC Feb. 27 — was held to three points while shooting 0-for-14 from the field and 0-for-12 from three-point land.
