Armed Robbery Reported Near Lake Shore Campus

A Loyola student was the victim of an armed robbery Sunday evening near the Lake Shore Campus, according to an email sent by Campus Safety to Loyola students.

The victim, a 25-year-old male, was approached by three males on the 1200 block of West Arthur Avenue at approximately 7:57 p.m., according to Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro. Campus Safety’s email said the robbery happened near 6458 N. Lakewood Ave. in the alley south of West Arthur Avenue between North Lakewood and Wayne avenues.

One man approached the victim from behind and implied he had a weapon and took his belongings, according to Alfaro. Campus Safety’s email said the three males were in a white vehicle and displayed a weapon.

The student was uninjured. The three males were described as between 5 feet 8 inches tall and 6 feet tall wearing black hoodies and blue jeans. They fled westbound in a white vehicle, according to Campus Safety.

Alfaro said no one is in custody. Campus Safety Sgt. Tim Cunningham said and CPD is still investigating the robbery in an email to The PHOENIX. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Campus Safety at 773-508-6039 or CPD at 312-744-8263.
