Former Loyola guard Ben Richardson signed on to play professionally next season.

Former Loyola guard Ben Richardson signed to play professional basketball in Poland next year. Details of the contract were not immediately available.

Richardson will play for MKS Dabrowa Gornicza — a professional team based in Dabrowa Gornicza, Poland next season, the team announced today.

Head coach Jacek Winnicki offered Richardson a contract after he worked out for them at the Worldwide Invitational Showcase July 8-10. The Showcase was an opportunity for players to present their skills in front of general managers and coaches from the top leagues in Europe as well as the NBA G-League.

Richardson was not immediately available to comment.

Last season, MKS Dabrowa Gornicza went 17-18 overall — putting them 6th out of 17 teams — in the Polska Liga Koszykówki (PLK). It’s considered the highest of four tiers in the Polish Basketball League. An official start date has not been announced but the season is expected to start in late September.

During Richardson’s four-year career at Loyola, he helped the program to 89 total wins the most wins in a four year career at Loyola since first-years became eligible in 1970. In the 2017-18 season, Richardson was named the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year and Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA South Regional after averaging 9.25 ppg in four tournament games.

The team didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
