The Loyola women’s soccer team (3-2-0) defeated Purdue Fort Wayne 4-0 Friday night at Loyola Soccer Park.
After a slow start to the first half, junior midfielder Aleksa Tataryn kicked off the scoring with her first goal of the season in the 26th minute with an assist from sophomore defender Jenna Ross to put Loyola ahead 1-0.
The Ramblers kept up the pressure and had many shots on goal but it wasn’t until the 42nd minute that they scored again. First-year midfielder Abby Swanson got her second goal of the season with an assist from Ross and send Loyola into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Senior forward Jenna Szczesny started the second half with fast action. After a breakaway, she nearly missed a goal as the shot went over the crossbar. Later, Szczesny scored her first goal of the match and third goal of the season to make it 3-0 Ramblers.
The Ramblers weren’t done yet. In the 81st minute, senior forward Claire Oberle’s first goal of the season made it 4-0 Loyola. It remained that way until the final buzzer sounded.
Loyola is scheduled to take on No. 14/13 Oklahoma State University Sept. 2 at Loyola Soccer Park. First kick is scheduled for 1 p.m.
