CPD Releases Video of Suspected Rogers Park Shooter

Chicago Police DepartmentFootage of a recent Rogers Park shooting suspect was released by CPD Wednesday afternoon.

The Chicago Police Department (CPD) released footage Wednesday of the suspect alleged to have shot and killed a man at the 1400 block of West Sherwin Avenue Sunday morning.

The video shows the suspect walking down a sidewalk and then switches to footage of the suspect running up an alley.

The individual is suspected to have killed 73-year-old Douglass Watts. The shooting occurred about 1.5 miles from the Lake Shore Campus, The Phoenix previously reported. Watts was walking his dogs when the incident occurred, according to a Facebook post by 49th Ward Alderman Joe Moore.

CPD released a photo of the suspect Tuesday which appears to come from the video footage. The suspect wore dark clothing and a ski mask.

24-year-old Eliyahu Moscowitz was shot and killed Tuesday morning near Loyola Park. The two incidents are connected and the same gun was used for both murders, CPD said during a Tuesday press conference. However, the second shooting wasn’t included in CPD’s description of the suspect in the video footage.

A description under the video directed anyone with information related the incident to call Area North HQ at 312-744-8261. The description also advised people to not approach the individual if spotted, but call 9-1-1 instead.
