Rogers Park Shooting Leaves Two Men Injured

Two men were injured in a shooting Sunday afternoon in Rogers Park, just under two miles from Loyola’s Lake Shore Campus, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 4:38 p.m. on the 1700 block of West Jonquil Terrace, north of the Howard Red Line stop, according to Officer Norma Pelayo of the Chicago Police Department (CPD). An unknown offender exited a four-door black vehicle and shot at a 23-year-old man, CPD said.

The 23-year-old victim was transported to Presence St. Francis Hospital in critical condition after being shot in his right leg and left arm, according to CPD.

The second victim, a 24-year-old male,  reported he was walking on the sidewalk when he heard gunshots and felt pain in his left arm, police said. He independently went to Presence St. Francis Hospital and is in stable condition, police said.

The offender hasn’t been arrested and Area North detectives are still investigating, according to CPD.
