A 28-year-old man was arrested on the 6400 block of North Sheridan Road steps from Loyola’s Lake Shore Campus Sunday night for an outstanding warrant for theft.

Sheldon Downer was charged and taken into custody around 11:55 p.m. with two misdemeanor counts of theft and two misdemeanor counts of resisting an officer, according to Chicago Police Department (CPD) News Affairs officer Laura Amezaga.

Downer is a local resident from the 1600 block of West Pratt Boulevard in Rogers Park, according to CPD.

CPD worked with Loyola’s private police force, Campus Safety, to make the arrest. Campus Safety officer Tim Cunningham said Campus Safety had administered the initial warrant for Downer and he resisted arrest last night.
