Man Barricades Himself in Rogers Park Apartment

A man barricaded himself inside his apartment building Tuesday morning, prompting a response from Special Weapons and Tactic (SWAT), police said.

At approximately at 9:30 a.m. this morning, the incident was called on the 6400 block of North Ridge Blvd. in West Rogers Park, according to Chicago Police Department (CPD) News Affairs officer Michelle Tannehill.

The incident was reported over, with the offender in custody and the area deemed safe, at 12:54 p.m.

Police don’t know why the offender barricaded himself inside the building. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston for an evaluation, Tannehill said.

There were no injuries reported.

There was a similar incident in March 2018 in which SWAT was called to diffuse a standoff inside a Rogers Park apartment near Loyola’s Lake Shore campus.
