Man Dead After Fire in Rogers Park

A fire across the street from Campion Hall on Loyola’s Lake Shore Campus left one man dead from burns Tuesday morning.

The fire occurred at the 6600 block of N. Sheridan. The 60-year-old man was transported to Presence St. Francis Hospital where he was in critical condition before he succumbed to his injuries, according to Chicago Police Department (CPD) officer Jessica Rocco. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to CPD.

The cause of the fire is unknown and Area North detectives are investigating, Rocco said. No other injuries were reported and no one has been displaced, according to CPD.

The Chicago Fire Department and Loyola’s Campus Safety Department didn’t respond to request for comment by the time of publication.
