Former Loyola guard Marques Townes took to Instagram to announce he’s signing on with an agent with hopes of testing the NBA Draft Monday afternoon.
Townes will sign with Edge Sports International, Inc. — a marketing group that represents athletes such as former Ramblers Milton Doyle and Donte Ingram, who both signed with the NBA G-League after not getting drafted. Doyle also saw time in the NBA with the Brooklyn Nets during the 2017-18 season.
“We are trilled about Marques joining Edge,” Keith Kreiter, CEO and President of Edge Sports International, said in a statement to The Phoenix. “He’s a first class kid with a huge upside. I am fully confident he’ll be very successful at the next level.”
Last month, Townes tweeted he intended to sign with an agent and make a run at the NBA Draft, which is scheduled for June 20 in Brooklyn, New York. He led the Ramblers with 15.3 points per game and 3.6 assists per game this season and was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year.
