Clayton Custer Lands Workout With Chicago Bulls

Nick Schultz | The PhoenixLoyola guard Clayton Custer celebrates with fans after winning another MVC title.

Clayton Custer is set to work out with the Chicago Bulls Monday afternoon, a source with information on Custer’s situation confirmed to The Phoenix.

This is the second NBA workout for Custer, as he worked out with the Milwaukee Bucks May 8. These workouts allow prospects to gain attention from NBA scouts ahead of the NBA Draft, which is scheduled for June 20.

Custer signed with an agent May 1 in hopes that he would make a professional run. The 2017-18 Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Player of the Year played a key role in Loyola’s run to the 2018 NCAA Tournament Final Four. As a senior last year, Custer averaged 11.1 points per game and 2.7 assists per game.

This is the third year in a row a former Rambler has gotten NBA looks. Milton Doyle signed with the Brooklyn Nets after going undrafted in 2017 and Donte Ingram signed an NBA Summer League contract with the Bulls last year. After the Summer League, Ingram signed a contract with the Texas Legends, the G-League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks which plays a step below the NBA.

Custer and 2018-19 MVC Player of the Year Marques Townes both signed with agents to test the draft.
