Former Loyola guard Marques Townes is set for his first NBA workout as he prepares to test the draft.
Townes has a workout with the Milwaukee Bucks Tuesday afternoon, sources close to Townes told The Phoenix. The NBA allows prospects to work out for team scouts as they try to get drafted. The NBA Draft is scheduled for June 20.
The 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year is the second former Rambler to line up a workout with the Bucks. Clayton Custer worked out with Milwaukee May 8 before working out with the Chicago Bulls May 20, The Phoenix reported.
This is the third straight year former Loyola players are getting NBA looks. In 2017, Milton Doyle signed on with the Long Island Nets, the NBA G-League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets who play a step below the NBA, and appeared in 10 NBA games that season. Last year, Donte Ingram signed an NBA Summer League deal with the Bulls before latching on with the Dallas Mavericks’ G-League team, the Texas Legends.
Townes, Doyle and Ingram are all represented by the same agency, Edge Sports International, Inc., The Phoenix reported.
