A car accident in Rogers Park Friday evening resulted in two people injured, officials said.

The car was driving south on the 6600 Block of North Ridge Boulevard around 6 p.m. when it attempted to pass two cars on the right, and hit two people crossing the street, according to Chicago Police Department (CPD) News Affairs officer Steve Rusanov.

The male victim — approximately 30 years old — had injuries to his head and face, while the female victim who is approximately 23 years old broke her right leg, and sustained injuries to her head and face, Rusanov said. Both victims were taken to Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in critical condition.

The driver received three citations — two for failing to yield to pedestrians crossing the road, and one for trying to overtake a car on the right — according to Rusanov.
