Less than a week before the NBA Draft, former Loyola guard Marques Townes is set to have another workout in front of scouts.
Townes told The Phoenix he has a workout scheduled with the Miami Heat June 15. The 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year also worked out for the Milwaukee Bucks May 21, The Phoenix reported.
These workouts allow prospects to showcase their skills in front of NBA scouts as they try to get drafted June 20.
Townes and former teammate Clayton Custer are both getting NBA looks this offseason. Custer worked out for the Bucks and Chicago Bulls in May, The Phoenix reported.
This is the third straight year former Ramblers have worked out for NBA teams. In 2017, Milton Doyle signed with the Brooklyn Nets and was assigned to the G-League — a step below the NBA — before playing 10 games with Brooklyn. Last year, Donte Ingram signed an NBA Summer League deal with the Chicago Bulls before latching on with the Texas Legends — the G-League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks.
