A man was charged with murder after the fatal shooting of a Northwestern graduate student in Rogers Park last fall, police said Wednesday.
Diante Speed, a 20-year-old from Chicago’s Portage Park neighborhood, was arrested Tuesday in the 200 block of West Belmont Avenue and charged with first-degree murder after he was identified as the person who fired shots at 25-year-old Shane Colombo last September, police said.
Colombo, a doctoral student, was waiting at a bus stop Sept. 19 in the 7500 block of North Clark Street when he was caught in an exchange of gunfire between two men, The Phoenix reported. He was pronounced dead at Presence St. Francis Hospital as a result of multiple gunshot wounds, The Phoenix reported.
Speed was expected to appear in court for a bail hearing Wednesday, police said.
