One day after its conference schedule came out, the Loyola men’s basketball team announced its non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2019-20 season Wednesday afternoon.
Loyola is set for an exhibition game against Division II school University of Indianapolis — where redshirt junior guard Tate Hall played from 2016-18 — Oct. 29 before officially opening the season against University of California, Davis (UC Davis) Nov. 5 at Gentile Arena.

One of the biggest games on the schedule is a matchup against Vanderbilt University as part of the Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase Dec. 22 in Phoenix. The Ramblers are also slated to travel to Furman University Nov. 8 — almost a year after the Paladins upset Loyola at the buzzer 60-58 at Gentile in the second game of the 2018-19 season.
Other notable opponents include Ball State University and St. Joseph’s University as part of home-and-home series — Loyola will head to Ball State Dec. 3 and St. Joseph’s will come to Gentile Nov. 16. Ball State defeated Loyola at Gentile last year and St. Joseph’s knocked off the Ramblers with a last-second three-pointer in Philadelphia.
Loyola is also set to head to the Cayman Islands for a tournament Nov. 25-27, starting with a game against the University of South Florida Nov. 25. In the next two rounds, the Ramblers could face high-major teams such as New Mexico State University and the University of Nebraska.
Non-conference play wraps up Dec. 22 with a matchup against Davidson University at Gentile before he Ramblers open Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) play at Valparaiso Dec. 30.
