A Loyola student reported an attempted robbery outside Marquette Hall on the Lake Shore Campus early Thursday morning, officials said.
The 19-year-old woman was approached by two unknown offenders at approximately 12:57 a.m. outside Marquette (6255 N. Kenmore Ave.), according to a crime alert — emails sent to Loyola students when a crime occurs near campus — from Campus Safety notifying the Loyola community.
The victim told police the two offenders put an unknown object up to her head and one to her back and told her to get on the ground, Chicago Police Department (CPD) News Affairs Officer Kellie Bartoli said. The offenders tried to take the woman’s belongings, but they were interrupted by an approaching person, Bartoli said.
The offenders fled the scene, officials said.
The offenders were described as two men who were wearing grey hoodies, and at least one of them had facial hair, the crime alert read.
The victim received a small laceration to her leg, and was treated by Loyola Emergency Medical Services, Bartoli said.
CPD said no one is in custody, and Area North detectives are investigating.
Campus Safety said there’s no further information to add outside what was provided in the crime alert since it’s an ongoing investigation, according to Sarah Howell, a university spokesperson.
