Nicholas Senn High School, in Edgewater near Loyola’s Lake Shore Campus, was sent into lockdown early Monday Nov. 18 after reports that a student brought a weapon to school, officials said.

Multiple Chicago Police Department (CPD) officers responded to the school (5900 N. Glenwood Ave.) at about 11:13 a.m. and recovered the weapon, which was determined to be a pellet gun, according to CPD News Affairs Officer Kellie Bartoli.

Bartoli said the student was arrested at the scene and is currently in custody. No one was injured during the exchange and the lockdown was lifted about an hour after officers arrived on the scene, according to police.
