A woman was the victim of an attempted criminal sexual assault, robbery and criminal sexual abuse on a Howard-bound Red Line train Thursday morning, officials said.
The crime occurred at about 9:57 a.m., according to a community alert released by the Chicago Police Department.
The 24-year-old woman was riding the train when a man approached her and exposed his genitals, police said. The woman switched train cars but was followed and the suspect hit her several times, the alert said. The man then inappropriately touched her, demanded she perform an inappropriate act — which she didn’t — and robbed her, the alert said. The suspect then got off the train at the Morse station, according to the alert.
Police described the man as black, 20 to 30 years old, 150 to 180 pounds and 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, according to the community alert. He has braided hair, a goatee and a medium complexion, the alert said. He was last seen wearing a dark jacket with a Chicago Bulls logo on the front and back with a white hoodie inside the jacket and baggy, stonewashed blue jeans with brown work boots, according to the alert.
Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Jessica Alvarez said there were no updates on the case as of Jan. 3.
