Courtesy of David OhmerSeveral bomb threats were called in downtown Wednesday, police said.

Bomb threats were called in at the Water Tower Place mall near Loyola’s Water Tower Campus and several other downtown shopping complexes late Wednesday afternoon, police said.

According to preliminary information from Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Anthony Spicuzza, a bomb threat was called in at Water Tower Place in the 800 block of North Michigan Avenue at about 4:26 p.m.

The other threats were called in at the Block 37 complex — located in the 100 block of North State Street — at about 4:34 p.m. and another shopping complex in the 100 block of East Delaware Place at about 4:34 p.m.

The Chicago Fire Department and Chicago Police Department’s Bomb and Arson Unit were on the scene. Crews cleared each of the buildings as of Wednesday evening, Spicuzza said.

Correction: An earlier version of this article said the Chicago Fire Department’s Bomb and Arson Unit was on the scene. That was incorrect — the Bomb and Arson Unit is a part of the Chicago Police Department.
