A convenience store in Edgewater was robbed Saturday evening, according to the Chicago Police Department (CPD).

An unknown male entered the store on the 1100 block of West Granville Avenue — just a few blocks from Loyola’s Lake Shore Campus — at about 8:35 p.m. and took out a handgun, said CPD News Affairs Officer Steve Rusanov. The offender then demanded a 22-year-old witness’ property, but didn’t take anything, according to CPD News Affairs Officer Kellie Bartoli. She said the offender took an unknown amount of money from the store’s cash register.

Rusanov said no injuries were reported, and the offender fled eastbound on West Granville Avenue.

Area North detectives are still investigating, and no one is in custody.
