As Chicagoans brace for another winter storm, Loyola students will likely to begin their first weekend of the semester with snow on the ground.
Snow is expected to reach Chicago around 5 p.m. Friday and rain and snow is expected to continue until Saturday around 6 p.m., according to the National Weather Service (NWS). For the first few hours, it’s expected to dump one inch per hour on the city, totaling up to five inches for the furthest north region of the city.
The NWS warns of hazardous road conditions that can change quickly, specifically during the Friday evening commute.
Between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, the wind chill factor could drop to minus 10 to minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit, the NWS says.
Last weekend, an intense winter storm caused strong winds and giant waves that severely damaged Rogers Park beaches, The Phoenix reported. The beaches have been a hot topic in the neighborhood, as the shoreline has increasingly eroded in recent years.
