A man was shot on North Winthrop Avenue about half a mile from Loyola’s Lake Shore Campus April 21, police said.

The 19-year-old was shot on the 6000 block of North Winthrop Avenue at about 4 p.m., according to Chicago Police Department (CPD) News Affairs Officer Kellie Bartoli.

The victim was standing on the sidewalk when he was shot five times by a man he described as wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt in a white sedan, according to Bartoli. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition, Bartoli said.

There is no one in custody for the shooting — the sedan was last seen headed southbound on North Winthrop Avenue, according to Bartoli. Area North detectives are investigating.
