Illinois Adds 2,253 New Cases of COVID-19 and 92 More Deaths

bebarnes | PixabayMost of Illinois will officially allow activities such as outdoor dining, salons and gatherings of 10 or less people to resume today, but Chicago isn’t moving as fast.

Officials from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced 2,253 new cases of COVID-19 and an additional 92 deaths April 29, bringing the state’s total to 50,355 confirmed cases and 2,215 total deaths.

COVID-19 cases have been reported in 96 of Illinois’ 102 counties, with most cases concentrated in the Cook County/Chicago area. They have a combined 34,880 cases, according to the IDPH website.

In the Rogers Park/Edgewater community — zip codes 60626 and 60660 respectively — there are 698 cases of COVID-19, according to the website.
