Illinois Health Officials Announce 2,119 Additional COVID-19 Cases, 80 More Deaths

bebarnes | PixabayMost of Illinois will officially allow activities such as outdoor dining, salons and gatherings of 10 or less people to resume today, but Chicago isn’t moving as fast.

Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) officials announced April 25 2,119 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 80 additional deaths, bringing state totals to 41,777 confirmed cases and 1,874 deaths.

The disease has now spread across 96 Illinois counties, according to a press release from the IDPH.

Health officials have said in recent days people must continue to wear masks in public, practice physical distancing measures and follow the stay-at-home order to beat the virus. 

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker said April 23 the stay-at-home order is extended until the end of May, The Phoenix reported.
