Illinois Now At 63,840 COVID-19 Cases With 2,662 Deaths

bebarnes | PixabayMost of Illinois will officially allow activities such as outdoor dining, salons and gatherings of 10 or less people to resume today, but Chicago isn’t moving as fast.

Officials from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported a 2,341 increase in the number of COVID-19 cases with an additional 46 deaths, bringing the state to 63,840 confirmed cases and 2,662 total deaths.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker said the state has been working to increase testing to a level where re-opening the state would be deemed safe. In the past day, over 13,000 specimens had been processed and tested for the virus with over 300,000 total tests done, according to data from the IDPH website.

According to the IDPH website, there are 819 confirmed cases of the virus in the Rogers Park-Edgewater neighborhood.
