Man Riding Bike Struck by Stray Bullet in Rogers Park

A 54-year-old man died after being struck by a stray bullet while riding his bicycle in Rogers Park June 6, police said. 

About two miles away from Loyola’s Lake Shore Campus, a 27-year-old man was driving near the 7600 block of N. Marshfield Ave. around 2:57 a.m. when he got into an argument with a group of men on the street. One of the men started shooting at the vehicle and wounded the 27-year-old’s right thigh, according to Kelly Bartoli, a spokeswoman for the Chicago Police Department.  

The 54-year-old man on his bike was struck in the head with a stray bullet during the altercation and transported to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston where he was later pronounced dead, according to police. 

No one is in custody. Area Three detectives are investigating.
