Loyola at Bradley Postponed, Ramblers Add North Texas

Nick Schultz | The PhoenixThe date of the next match-up between Loyola and Bradley University is currently unknown due to positive COVID-19 tests at Bradley.

The Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) announced Dec. 30 the postponement of the Loyola men’s basketball series at Bradley University Jan. 3-4 due to COVID-19 cases at Bradley. Loyola Athletics announced Dec. 31 the Ramblers would be adding a non-conference game against University of North Texas Jan. 2 at Gentile Arena.

The MVC press release stated the positive cases were “among Bradley’s Tier I personnel, which consists of student-athletes, coaches, managers and staff.” The release also said make-up dates for the series will be announced at a later date.

This is the third MVC series to be postponed this season. Valparaiso University’s series against Bradley (Dec. 28-29) and Illinois State University (Jan. 2-3) were both postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests at Valparaiso. Bradley’s series against University of Northern Iowa has also been moved from Jan. 9-10 to Jan. 10-11 with no specific reason listed.

The Ramblers are set to play North Texas at Gentile Arena Jan. 2 with tip-off scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Loyola enters the matchup with a 6-2 record, while North Texas is 4-3 on the year. This will be the first ever meeting between the two teams.
