Anheuser-Busch — the creator of college-favorite brews such as Budweiser, Natural Light and Busch — announced it’s teaming up with the White House to give away free beer to Americans if the country reaches President Joe Biden’s goal of 70% of adults partially vaccinated by July 4.
The company said it’ll buy Americans (of legal drinking age) a round of beer, seltzer or other Anheuser-Busch product once 70% of adults have received at least one dose of the vaccine — currently, 62.9% of adults have received at least one shot, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“We pride ourselves on stepping up both in times of need and in times of great celebration, and the past year has been no different,” Michel Doukeris, CEO of Anheuser-Busch, said in a statement. “As we look ahead to brighter days with renewed optimism, we are proud to work alongside the White House to make a meaningful impact for our country, our communities and our consumers.”
The giveaway is part of President Joe Biden’s June “month of action,” in which he’s attempting to get as many Americans vaccinated as possible. The president specifically called out young people during a speech June 2.
“And for young people who may think this doesn’t affect you, listen up, please: This virus, even a mild case, can be with you for months,” Biden said. “It will impact your social life. It could have long-term implications for your health that we don’t even know about yet or fully understand yet.”
Once the goal is met, people will be able to upload a picture of themselves at their favorite place to grab a beer — whether it’s a local bar, someone’s backyard or in their own living room — to MyCooler.com/Beer to claim their free Anheuser-Busch product.
The promotion will last for seven days after the U.S. reaches the 70% mark, or until supply runs out, according to the giveaway rules.
If you’re not a beer person, don’t worry. The company also has an extensive list of seltzers and canned cocktails under their brand including Cutwater Spirits and rapper Travis Scotts’ Cacti seltzer.
