The Loyola men’s volleyball team (23-7, 11-3) was swept 3-0 by No. 1 seed The Ohio State University in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) tournament championship game April 21 in Columbus, Ohio.

As a first-year member of the Loyola men’s volleyball team, outside hitter Collin Mahan, 21, expected to watch and learn from outside hitter Thomas Jaeschke. Jaeschke ended up leaving Loyola after the 2015 season to play on the U.S. National Team — leaving Mahan to fill his role.

Many athletes have been playing sports for as long as they can remember. But, Loyola men’s volleyball senior middle blocker, 22-year-old Jeff Jendryk, has only been playing volleyball since he was 16 years old. Although playing for six years might seem like a relatively short time, Jendryk said that’s average for midwestern volleyball players.
