A non-Loyola affiliated homicide occurred in the 2100 block of W. Devon Avenue early Saturday morning, according to a crime alert email from Chief of Police and Director of Campus Safety Thomas Murray.
The Chicago Police Department (CPD) said an 18-year-old male sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest at approximately 12:30 a.m. and was pronounced dead on the scene. While he was walking on Devon Avenue west of Hoyne Avenue — just outside Loyola Soccer Park, the home of Loyola’s men’s and women’s soccer teams — an unknown armed offender approached the victim and opened fire in his direction, according to CPD.
CPD said there are no suspects in custody. The offender, whose age is unknown, is described as:
- Last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with light blue pants
