Loyola men’s basketball head coach Porter Moser announced the hiring of Jevon Mamon as an assistant coach and Director of Basketball Operations in a press release Oct. 17.
Mamon takes over the position after former Loyola men’s basketball player Joe Crisman left the position to pursue medical school. Mamon has spent the last six years as a high school basketball coach in the Chicago area, and is coming off of his only season as head coach at Hyde Park Academy in Chicago. He led Chicago’s Perspectives Academy to an Illinois High School Association class 3A regional title and an appearance in the sectional final game in 2013, and coached Richards High School to a conference title in 2016.
Mamon said he is excited to get started in his new position and feels the program is moving in the right direction.
“Coach Moser, along with the rest of the staff, have worked diligently to continue the ascension of the men’s basketball program here at Loyola,” Mamon said in a statement. “I’m very happy to be in a position to contribute to that success and look forward to doing so.”
Mamon graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor High School in southern suburb Homewood, and attended Barat College in northern suburb Lake Forest — which closed in 2005 — from 2000-2004, where he was named a captain of the men’s basketball team.
The men’s basketball team is scheduled to tip off its season Nov. 10 at Gentile Arena.
