A 41-year-old man was shot and killed Nov. 29 in Rogers Park, two miles north of Loyola’s Lake Shore Campus, police said.

The man was shot in the back around 11:30 p.m. while standing on the sidewalk in the 1600 block of West Howard Street. He was taken to Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston where he died from his injuries, according to police.

No arrests have been made, police said. Area North detectives are investigating.

The Phoenix reported six other shootings in Rogers Park this semester, which have left three people dead and five injured. Two of the people killed are believed to be shot by the same offender, who still hasn’t been caught. As a result, Loyola students and the Rogers Park community has been on high alert.

Police say the shooting doesn’t appear to be connected with other shootings in Rogers Park, but they’ll notify the community if additional information reveals a connection.
