20-Year-Old Shot A Mile Away from Loyola’s Lake Shore Campus

A man was shot about a mile away from Loyola’s Lake Shore Campus at 7 p.m. Nov. 9, police said. 

The 20-year-old man was sitting in the backseat of a parked car at 6700 N. Newgard Ave. when another man walked up and started a conversation before firing shots, wounding the 20-year-old’s chest, according to a Chicago Police Department (CPD) media alert. 

The 20-year-old was driven to Presence Saint Francis Hospital by friends and later pronounced dead, according to CPD. 

There’s no one in custody. Area Three detectives are investigating.
