COVID-19 Cases Continue to Rise at Loyola and in Chicago

Courtesy of Loyola University Chicago9.28 percent of the 485 COVID-19 tests administered by The Wellness Center this week came back positive.

Loyola testing centers reported 45 new coronavirus cases between Nov. 9 and Nov. 16, according to its COVID-19 Testing Dashboard.

Out of the 485 tests administered this week, 9.28 percent of the tests were positive, according to the dashboard. 

Loyola students experiencing symptoms or those who are at high risk are tested in satellite clinics at the Lakeshore campus or the Water Tower campus, the dashboard says. 

This week Loyola’s men’s basketball team announced it will pause all team activities due to COVID-19 cases among team personnel, The Phoenix reported. Meanwhile, Loyola has plans to allow some students to return to campus next semester, The Phoenix reported.

In the city of Chicago, 12,119 cases were reported the week of Nov. 9, according to the city’s COVID-19 Dashboard. Approximately 80,837 tests were conducted in the city between Nov. 9 and Nov. 15 with a positivity rate of 16 percent, according to the dashboard.
