The Crazy Greek is a Flavorful Addition to Rogers Park

Natalie Doyle | The PhoenixThe Crazy Greek (6808 N. Sheridan Road) was previously opened with limited hours, though April 14 marked its opening day and a return to normal operating hours.

Right next to popular bubble tea shop Tai Chi Bubble Tea and a few doors down from Giordano’s, a new Greek spot has arrived in Rogers Park. Located at 6808 N. Sheridan Road, The Crazy Greek is the perfect new spot for fast, casual and flavorful Greek-American fare.

The restaurant moved from its original location in Skokie to Rogers Park, and officially opened April 14. With plenty of hungry students returning in the fall, their new location is sure to be a hotspot.

The Crazy Greek’s menu features a vast assortment of foods, from gyros to charburgers to rice bowls and salad bowls. Any of their main menu items can be made a combo, which includes fries and a drink.

The interior is bright and clean, with limited seating inside and a view of the kitchen in back. Plus, they have an easy contactless ordering method. For drinks, customers can choose between bottled and canned Coke products, San Pellegrino and Dad’s Rootbeer.

The restaurant’s prices are reasonable, with the majority of their main dishes ranging from $7.99 to $9.99, with an extra $3.49 to $4.49 to make it a combo. And with the amount of food they give you, pricing is fair. They also offer extra sides including Avgolemono (a creamy lemon soup with rice and chicken) or rice pilaf, plus desserts including Greek cookies, baklava and Jenni’s Splendid Ice Creams.

Their Chicago Style Premium Gyros Sandwich is extremely flavorful. Served on fresh pita with tomato and red onion and piled high with gyro meat, this dish does not disappoint. While the side of tzatziki is arguably plain, it still adds a nice freshness to the dish.

The side of fries, which can be served plain or with feta on top, were fluffy on the inside but could have been crisper on the outside. They’re served with a side of ketchup, but they’re also really good with the tzatziki sauce.

Dessert at The Crazy Greek is also a home-run. Unique flavors of Jenni’s Splendid Ice Cream, such as Gooey Butter Cake and Brembleberry Crisp, can be purchased in pint-sized or treat-sized. Their baklava, which is generously served in two large slices, has bold notes of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg.

For fast, casual and authentic Greek-American cuisine, The Crazy Greek does it right. With plenty of menu items and bold flavors to choose from, this restaurant is a great addition to Rogers Park.

The Crazy Greek is open Monday through Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. and is closed Sundays.
