Loyola Announces Additional Game Against Saint Xavier

Zack Miller | The PhoenixThe Loyola men's basketball team defeated the University of Evansville as its bench scored a total of 35 points.

The Loyola men’s basketball team (9-2, 1-0) will add another Chicagoland competitor to its list after scheduling a game against Saint Xavier University in Gentile Arena Jan. 2.

This matchup will replace a previously scheduled game on the road against Southern Illinois University, which was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns within the Salukis program.

Loyola hasn’t returned to the court since defeating Vanderbilt University Dec. 10. Both of the Ramblers’ final games of 2021 against Norfolk State University Dec. 19 and Davidson College Dec. 22 were canceled at the discretion of Loyola Athletics.

Saint Xavier competes in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) as a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The Cougars currently hold a 8-9 record and will be the second CCAC team Loyola will play after taking down Roosevelt University 88-49 Dec. 7.

Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. though broadcast details have yet to be announced.
