BREAKING: Loyola Men’s Basketball Season Fully Unveiled as Atlantic 10 and Loyola Athletics Announce Schedules

Nicky Andrews | The PhoenixThe Loyola men's basketball team reached the NCAA Tournament in 2022 after winning the MVC Championship.

The Atlantic 10 (A-10) and Loyola Athletics simultaneously announced their conference and non-conference schedules, respectively, to reveal the Ramblers’ full 2022-2023 season schedule Sept. 7.

Loyola’s regular season opener will take place in Gentile Arena when it hosts Fairleigh Dickinson University Nov. 7, followed by an away game against local competitor University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) prior to their departure from the city.

The Ramblers will then travel to Conway, South Carolina to play in the Myrtle Beach Invitational Nov. 17 against the University of Tulsa. Other competitors in the tournament include Boise State University, Texas A&M University, Murray State University, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, University of Colorado Boulder and A-10 opponent University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Loyola’s non-conference schedule also features a home game versus Red Line rival DePaul University Dec. 3. The Ramblers will look to keep bragging rights after defeating the Blue Devils 68-64 in last year’s contest Dec. 4.

The Ramblers were also invited to participate in this year’s edition of Holiday Hoopsgiving in Atlanta. This is a non-tournament event with 10 universities — five of which made March Madness last year — where every team plays just one game. The Ramblers will play Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) member Clemson University Dec. 10.

On Dec. 31, Loyola will start conference play when it hosts George Washington University, marking the former Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) team’s first-ever game in the A-10. Once conference competition begins, the Ramblers will not participate in any non-conference games.

Loyola will face every team in the conference once, except its home-and-home opponents — University of Dayton, Saint Louis University, Saint Joseph’s University and George Mason University. The Ramblers will host and visit these teams, playing a total of two games against each.

On Mar. 1, Loyola will have its last home game of the season when it hosts the University of Rhode Island and is scheduled to finish its regular season when it visits La Salle University Mar. 4 in Philadelphia.

Once the regular season comes to a close, all 15 A-10 members will meet in Brooklyn, New York to play at the Barclays Center for the conference championship Mar. 8-12.

Loyola will start the 2022-2023 season at home as it hosts Fairleigh Dickinson University Nov. 7. Time and broadcasting details have yet to be announced.
