Loyola’s track and field teams spent Jan. 27-28 at the Blue Demon Alumni Invite, walking away with six program top 10 times and 25 personal records split between the men’s and women’s.
The event began Friday night where the Ramblers finished with two personal records from fourth-year sprinter Jayla Johnson who came in fifth in their heat in the 60-meter with a time of 9.14.
Saturday night concluded with three top 10 times, seven PR’s in the men’s 3,000-meter event and a first-place finish.
Third-year mid-distance runner Jason Clayton finished first in the 3,000-meter race with a time of 8:00 while graduate distance runner Francois Guilhot came in second place with a personal record of 8:01.48. Third-year mid-distance runner Gabe Smit achieved a personal record as well and came in third place.
Third-year distance runner Fionn Harrington finished the 3,000-meter with a two-second personal record of 8:13, coming in 10th on the all-time list.
Additional PR’s in the men’s race included second-year distance runner Woody Jerome at 8:13, first-year distance runner Cael Mulholland at 8:13, first-year distance runner Nate Boutin at 8:17 and second-year distance runner Jake Phillips who shaved 14 seconds off his previous record with a new time of 8.14.
In the women’s 3,000m, graduate distance runner Emma Watcke shaved 16 seconds off her personal record with a time of 9:32. She took fourth place on the program’s top 10 list and third overall. Third-year distance runner Grace Kuhn finished fourth overall with a time of 9:35.05 — seven seconds faster than her previous best, moving her up to fifth all-time for Loyola.
Graduate distance runner Delia McDade-Clay ran a 10 second personal record at 9:38.41.
Additional PR’s in the womens 3,000-meter included third-year distance runner Roisin Treacy with 9:55.90 and fourth-year distance runner Grace Maurer at 10:03.88, taking 11 seconds off of her former PR.
Two personal records were achieved in the men’s mile race, including first-year distance runner Trent Anderson finishing fourth overall with 4:13.78 and graduate distance runner Stephen Lavey who came in at 4:18.64.
In the women’s mile race, first-year distance runner Eileen Seebon and first-year distance runner Julia Isham made their mile debuts and set PR’s of 4:57.98 and 5:05.55, respectively.
McLain won her 800-meter heat with a four second PR and a time of 2:27.99. First-year mid-distance runner James Howell matched his 800-meter PR, finishing at 1:54.04.
In the unseeded events on Saturday, the Ramblers walked away with six PR’s — three from each team.
The women’s team saw a PR in the unseeded events from third-year distance runner Ali Gillooly, who took second overall in the mile and ran a time of 5:05.51, two seconds better than her previous best. Fourth-year distance runner Autumn Dushack finished 17 seconds faster with a time of 5:22.3, and fourth-year distance runner Eva Bednard cut four seconds off finishing at 5:34.26.
Second-year distance runner Kyle Kutson finished in third with a time of 4:25.58 on the men’s team, while second-year distance runner Gabe Ryan took seventh place with a time of 4:26.34. First-year distance runner Aidan Collins crossed the finish line with a time of 4:42.23.
The Ramblers will compete next at the GVSU Big Meet and the Wisconsin Windy City Invite Feb. 9-10.
