Men’s and women’s cross country finished fifth and eighth respectively out of 15 teams at the 45th Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational Oct. 4.
The Loyola men’s and women’s cross country teams hosted the 45th Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational Friday, Oct. 4. The men’s team finished fifth out of 15 teams in the 8k championship, while the women took home eighth out of 16 teams in the 6k championship.
Four races took place throughout the day. In both the men’s and women’s respective events, an open round preceded the following championship round.
In the men’s opening round, DePaul University finished first with an average time of 25:07. Duke University followed with a 25:29 average time and Loyola rounded out the top three with an average time of 25:40.
Indiana University third-year Nolan Satterfield finished first individually with a time of 24:22.5. Second-year Nate Boutin finished first for the Ramblers and fourth overall at 24:46.1, followed closely by second-year Gabe Ryan who finished eighth overall at 24:56.3.
The women’s open round finished with the University of Toledo in the top spot with an average time of 21:37. The University of Texas and Northwestern University rounded out the top three with average times of 21:43 and 21:49, respectively.
Independent runner Nina Amicon finished first in the open run, clocking in a time of 21:09.6. Fourth-year Ali Gillooly finished first for Loyola and 18th overall, running a 21:52.4. The next Rambler to finish was fourth-year Aiden Grasse who ran a 22:00.8, good enough for 24th overall.
The University of Wisconsin took home the men’s championship, recording a time of 23:23. The University of Alabama took second with a 23:11 average, while Butler University took third place with an average time of 23:39.
University of Alabama first-year Dismus Lokira took home first place for the men’s competition with a final time of 22:41.9. Third-year Jason Clayton finished first for the Ramblers and 20th overall, clocking a 23:32.8. Fourth-year Miles Clisham crossed the finish line next for Loyola in 32nd place with a time of 23:50.9.
The University of Alabama won the overall for the women’s championship with an average time of 19:39. The top three also included North Carolina State University and the University of Minnesota who averaged 19:54 and 20:15, respectively.
University of Alabama second-year Doris Lemngole finished first individually with a time of 18:48.2. Second-year Julia Isham was the first Rambler to cross the finish line in 29th place, with a time of 20:25.5. Three spots behind was fourth-year Delia McDade Clay in 32nd place with a final time of 20:28.2.
The Ramblers will take on two invitationals this upcoming weekend, first traveling to Peoria, IL for the Bradley Pink Classic Friday, Oct. 18 and then north for the Wisconsin Pre National Invitational in Madison, WI Saturday, Oct. 19.
