Women’s golf finished out their season at the Bowling Green State University Invitational, ending up in third place.
The Loyola women’s golf team ended their regular season at the Bowling Green State University Invitational in Bowling Green, Ohio where they carded a total score of 609 (306-303) and a third-place finish April 5-6.
Invitational hosts Bowling Green State University took the top overall spot with a total of 586 (292-294) while Central Michigan University first-year Ella Zenatta finished first individually with an even score of 142 (71-71).
Second-year Cassie Psuik led the way for the Ramblers, finishing in third place with a total of 147 (71-76). Psuik also scored the most birdies in the invitational with seven, bringing her spring season total up to 31.
Fourth-year Cate Reisinger earned a top 10 finish with a score of 149 (75-74) and tied for sixth place, marking her fifth top 10 finish this season.
Head coach Brandy Johnston said the timing of Psuik’s and Reisinger’s top 10 performances lined up right when they needed to be.
“Cassie and Cate adding another top 10 to their respective resumes is a testament to their competitiveness, and they are playing their best at the right time, ” Johnston said.
First-year Grace Hui recorded a 156 (81-75) to tie at 19th — one stroke ahead of fourth-year Jolie Brochu, who took 23rd with a total of 157 (79-78).
First-year Madison Haugen rounded out the team scoring for the Ramblers in 32nd with a score of 162 (81-81).
On the individual side, redshirt second-year Reese Clark finished in 26th place with a total of 158 (78-80), while second-year Amelia Gatti shot a 173 (88-85) and finished in 42nd place.
Johnston said she commended the group’s performance in their last tournament of the regular season — even though the playing conditions weren’t ideal.
“This is a great way for us to close out the regular season,” Johnston said. “We battled rain, cold and a very wet golf course both days and competed hard from start to finish. Everyone showed a lot of resilience. This should give us a lot of confidence heading into the A10 championship.”
As the regular season comes to a close, the Ramblers look ahead at pursuing postseason play in their first A10 Tournament appearance which will be held at the Evermore Resort in Orlando April 17-19.
