A vehicle caught fire in the north side of Loyola’s Lake Shore Campus parking garage just before 8 p.m., Nov. 13.

The enclosed space was quickly filled with smoke after the fire spread from the car’s engine to its interior. An electrical short is thought to be the cause, but has not been confirmed. One other vehicle was nearby but wasn’t damaged, Chicago Fire Department (CFD) Captain Flynn said. No injuries have been reported.

Two CFD trucks responded to the scene in addition to Loyola’s Campus Safety and the Chicago Police Department. Lieutenant Tim O’Neill of Engine 70 helped put out the blaze as Campus Safety blocked off the driveway around the Quinlan Life Sciences building.
