Rain Spoils Final Round as Men’s Golf Finishes in 12th

Competing against a 16-team field, the Ramblers finished with a final score of 579.

The Loyola men’s golf team finished in 12th place after inclement weather led to the third round being canceled at the Butler Spring Invitational in Indianapolis April 1-2.

Competing against a 16-team field, the Ramblers finished with a final score of 579 (292-287) over just two rounds of play. Hosts Butler University and Purdue University Fort Wayne finished the shortened tournament in a tie for first place, both carding 558.

First-year Nick Peirson of Indiana University took home the individual first-place honors with a final score of 133 (68-65).

Second-year Sebastian Kasun was the top performer for Loyola, coming in 16th place individually with a 140 (73-67). Second-years Charlie Kulwin and Ryan Walsh finished just a stroke apart with scores of 144 (73-71) and 145 (72-73), respectively.

Graduate Zach Walsh finished with a 150 (74-76) while first-year Jackson Overton followed closely with a 151 (75-76).

Loyola head coach Erik Hoops said he wished the team could’ve gotten back out for the third-round to make up for their rough start on the tournament’s first day.

“All year we’ve proven to really bring it for the final round and unfortunately we didn’t have that opportunity,” Hoops said. “We’ll regroup and be ready for our last few weeks.”

The Ramblers have a few weeks off before they travel downstate to Urbana-Champaign for the Illini Invitational hosted by the University of Illinois April 20-21.
