An aggravated robbery involving a Loyola student occurred near the Lake Shore Campus on the evening of Nov. 20, according to Campus Safety.
The incident happened around 9:15 p.m. on the 6500 block of North Glenwood Avenue after an unidentified individual approached a student, displayed a gun and demanded the student’s belongings. The student complied and wasn’t physically harmed, Campus Safety said in a crime alert sent to the university community at approximately 10:30 p.m. the night of the incident.
Christian Anderson, assistant vice president of communication, emphasized the university’s efforts to ensure the safety of its community in an email to The Phoenix.
“The safety of all members in our community is a top priority,” Anderson wrote. “The university works with many people, both inside and outside Loyola, to manage issues related to crime and safety.”
Campus Safety reminds students to report suspicious activity and utilize safety resources available on campus. Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to contact Campus Safety at (773) 508-6039 or the Chicago Police Department.
