Green City Market: Every Saturday in April
Lincoln Park’s Green City Market is back for spring 2025 and will operate every Saturday in April from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Less than a mile from the Clark/Division Red Line station, this farmers market, located at 1817 N. Clark St., sells locally grown food and hosts community programs.
Shedd Aquarium Free for Students: April 15
With student identification as proof of Illinois residency, Loyola students can marvel at the beauty of aquatic life at Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium April 15 — one of four free days for students in the month of April. Arrive between 5 and 9 p.m. to enjoy the benefits of free admission.
Board Games Benefitting Felines and Canines: April 12
Over time, the staff of Athena Board Game Cafe has collected board games they plan to sell April 12. The money made from the sale will benefit local animal shelter Felines and Canines. More information can be found on their website.
Asian Pop Up Cinema: Until April 13
Just off of the North/Clybourn Red Line stop, the AMC located at 1500 N. Clybourn Ave. will screen the majority of the films the 19th Asian Pop-Up Cinema is showcasing in their final weekend of screening ending April 13.
Chicago Language Symposium: DePaul, April 12
Does Artificial Intelligence impact world language education? World language educators and researchers will flock to DePaul University’s Lincoln Park campus April 12 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to present their innovative ideas for the future of world language education in the age of AI.
Live Jazz with the Simon Ciaccio Trio: April 10
The Simon Ciaccio Trio recently began playing at About Last Knife, located inside Arlo Chicago at 168 N. Michigan Ave. A free 6 to 8:30 p.m. April 10 showtime is available for those looking for dinner and a show to cap off a Thursday night.
Paige Dillinger is a second-year political science and english double major from Austin, TX, and has been writing for The Phoenix since her first month at Loyola. Her journalism favorites include local politics and investigative stories. She enjoys sunshine on a crisp winter day, movies with scores by John Williams, scoffing at prices in antique stores and SNL when it’s good.
Hunter Minné wrote his first article for The Phoenix during just his first week as a first-year at Loyola. Now in his fourth-year on staff, the Atlanta-native staff writer is studying journalism, political science and environmental communication alongside his work at the paper. For fun he yells at geese.
Lilli Malone, a senior, is the Editor-in-Chief of The Phoenix and has written for the paper since the first week of her freshman year. She is studying journalism, criminal justice and political science. She was previously on the news team of The Phoenix and has contributed to local newspapers such as The Daily Herald and Block Club Chicago. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Malone enjoys staring longingly out over Lake Michigan and pigeon-watching with her roommates.
